“Spin” by Lifehouse… “Why would I chase your shadow all my life, than be afraid of my own? I’d rather be with you. I’d rather not know where I’ll be. And you and all the comforts that I know. When the world keeps spinning round, my world’s upside down and I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve got nothing else to lose, I lost it all when I found you. And I wouldn’t change a thing. No, you and I wouldn’t change a thing…”
Memory diminishes over time. I’m starting to get worried about dad’s. He came into the room to get back the Einaudi CD I borrowed and picked up the first CD he saw on my desk, which happened to be “Endtroducing” by DJ Shadow and after taking a quick look at the cover, asked if that was it. The Einaudi album has a picture of a landscape on the cover. The DJ Shadow album has a picture of the inside of a record store on the cover. If that wasn’t enough, it clearly states the artists’ names on the covers anyway. I really should have just said “Yeah, that’s it” and let him go to see how far he would get before realising since the 2 aforementioned albums couldn’t be any more different! Dad’s a bit slow sometimes.
Have heard from Yogi most days since he’s leading a rather incidental and exciting life at the moment. First significant bit of news was his ad-hoc street race on Saturday. He was at the traffic lights and heard the driver in the car beside him calling out to him. When he wound the window down, the guy asked him, “Wanna race?” Yogi drives a Suburu Impreza, which is a rally/sports car and is quite souped up. Even if it wasn’t souped up, it shouldn’t have any problems battering the other guy’s souped up Renault wannabe sports car! Unfortunately, the light changed to amber when Yogi was still winding the window up, so the other guy got a head start. They continued to race, but the other guy took advantage of his prompt start, so Yogi lost by about half a car’s length! Even though it was a bad start, I think it damaged Yogi’s fast and furious ego a bit. It didn’t help that D and S continued to tease him about it, telling him that his car should have taken the other car by a long shot. Yogi thinks that because of the management system for the engine, his car is unable to take off from stand-still without rolling. Plus, it distributes fuel accordingly so that the wheels don’t wheel-spin. Hmmm, I’m not so sure about that. If I take it over 4000 rpm and slip the clutch, I’m sure that beast will roar and take off like it was built for it.
Yogi had also been contacted by someone in Switzerland with a one-off offer. That person alleges to have deposited money in an off-shore Canadian based trust’s account under his name. Yogi contacted the bank and checked on the status of the account that had been created for him and found it to contain a vast (and silly) amount of buckaroos! The only problem is that the new account needs to be activated by placing a minimum deposit in it of $3500. Well, there are only 2 possibilities here: 1) Scam, or 2) Big Bucks. Yogi’s interested in collecting, but is naturally not keen on placing a deposit in the activated account so is trying to work out a way around not getting shafted if it is indeed an elaborate scam. I hope he gets the money, because he’s verbally agreed to buy me dinner and a new car if it goes through, so it’s going to be gourmet and a Ferrari. I might try to get him to throw in an apartment with parking facilities in a swanky part of town too, just so I’ll have a good place to park my new Ferrari.
